As of 2021, 96% of non-federal acute care hospitals and about 80% of office-based physicians had adopted certified EHR systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the uptake of EHR and EMRs in the mental health sector<\/a> has been slower than anticipated. Psychiatric hospitals are currently utilizing EHRs at a rate of 46%, while office-based mental health clinics have an adoption rate<\/a> of 61%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This hesitance is due to concerns about managing sensitive data, standardizing mental health records, and potentially compromising patient-provider relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonetheless, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals should not miss out on the pivotal role of EMRs\/EHRs in optimizing clinical workflow, streamlining revenue cycle management, and elevating the standard of patient care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
