What is ONC-ATCB Certification?

ONC-ATCB certification is a program that tests electronic health records (or EHR modules) to see if they meet requirements set for by the Office of the National Coordinator of the US Department of Health and Human Services. It specifically checks for compliance with "The Final Rule" issued in July 2010 to qualify EHR technology for ARRA.

The goal is to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of health information technology. In 2004, a non-profit organization (The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology - CCHIT®) was founded to accelerate the adoption of health IT. Two years after its founding, the organization began certifying electronic health technology, setting forth the criteria of what capabilities were needed.

Features of IMS' 2014 Edition ONC Certified EHR & Practice Management Software

Drug-Drug and Drug-Allergy Interaction Checks

Our EMR IMS is designed to meet the drug-drug and drug-allergy interaction checks required for ONC-ATCB certification. Our e-prescriptions module is part of a full-featured practice management software solution focusing on improving practice efficiency while increasing patient safety.

Our electronic medical record software allows healthcare providers to create an electronic prescription that quickly performs crucial safety functions like allergy and drug interaction checks. Electronic prescriptions are automatically stored in the patient's electronic health record, which can then be printed or sent directly to the patient's preferred pharmacy.

EMR IMS comes with a comprehensive lab tracking module that simplifies the management and maintenance of patient lab results. Results are received by doctors or staff electronically and can quickly be uploaded to the system to be used in related modules. It saves a lot of time as each lab order can be entered into a patient's electronic medical record with a single click of a mouse.

Medication Reconciliation

Medication reconciliation is a process of identifying the most complete and accurate list of medications a patient is taking and using that list to provide correct medications for the patient anywhere within the health care system. Our EMR fully complies with ONC-ATCB medication reconciliation criteria.

Patient Specific Education Resources

Patient specific education resources are built into our EHR practice management software. Our software uses logic to gather data about the patient and offers educational resources that may be of value to the patient.

Automatic Log-Off

As one of many security-enhancement features of our complete practice management suite, our electronic medical record system automatically logs authorized users out of the system after a period of inactivity. This helps ensure that unauthorized users do not gain access to patient records.
